Jotel Hotel, Kyoto: A Model of Compact Functionality and Practical Design

We were commissioned to design the Jotel Hotel, a budget hotel situated in the historic city of Kyoto. This hotel caters primarily to business travelers who require convenient and efficient short-term accommodation. The challenge lay in integrating all the amenities expected of a hotel room into a compact, yet comfortable, space.

Prioritizing practicality and functionality, we carefully designed each room to maximize the use of space. Efficient layout planning and smart storage solutions were key to providing all the necessary amenities without compromising on comfort. The design ensures that every square foot is used to its full potential, providing guests with a fully equipped, yet uncluttered environment.

The end result is a series of rooms that, while compact, are comfortable, well-appointed, and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of business travelers.
